Meet Our Teachers

Michelle is a native of St. Louis, MO. She began her vocal studies under the direction of Dee Pavelka with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis Artist in Training program in 2003. She went on to study opera at The Boston Conservatory, before transferring and finishing her opera and jazz studies at Webster University in St. Louis. Michelle now resides in Platte County with her husband, James, and three amazing bonus kids, Chase, James Jr., and Emma.

In 2018, Michelle founded Harper Haus Music Company in Platte City, MO. She teaches private voice lessons and theatre classes to students of all ages. Michelle has performed the Star Spangled Banner and Canadian anthem for several St. Louis and Kansas City sporting events, and was also invited to perform the halftime show for a sold-out Arrowhead Stadium during the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Oakland Raiders breast cancer awareness game in 2013.

A few of her local theatre credits include Princess Fiona in SHREK: The Musical, Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia!, Sister Mary Hubert in Nunsense, Mrs. Gloop in Willy Wonka, Portia in Cinderella, and Mother in Awesome Allie with Shawnee Mission Theatre in the Park’s Blue Curtain Project Tour. She made her Kauffman Center debut in 2023 playing Miss Honey in Matilda, and will return to the Kauffman Center in 2024 to play her lifelong dream role of Mrs. Potts, in the Culture House Broadway summer production of Beauty and the Beast. Michelle also performs alongside Joshua Shockey in their self made show, Duetable, and currently serves on the board for Weston Community Theatre.

Michelle Harper

Rhonda Gierstorf

Rhonda is ecstatic to be on the Harper Haus staff! She graduated from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. She began playing piano at the age of twelve. She has been involved in her church’s music ministry for thirty years as a soloist, accompanist, Director of the Handbell Choir, Co-Director of the Adult Choir and Chamber Choir. Some additional groups she has performed with are the St Joseph Community Chorus, Atchison Peacemakers, and MWSU Renaissance Singers. Some of her favorite theatre roles include: Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Mother Abbess (The Sound of Music), Marian Paroo (The Music Man), Rosie (Bye Bye Birdie), Miss Tottendale (The Drowsy Chaperone), and Contessa Almaviva in the opera Le Nozze di Figaro. Outside of music, Rhonda’s interests include spending time with her husband, Shane, and daughter, Olivia, travelling, playing board games, participating on trivia teams, cooking/baking, planning her epic annual Halloween party, and supporting her friends’ theatre endeavors.

Andy Zerr

Hey, I'm Andy. I recently graduated from Benedictine College with a BA in Music with a focus on percussion, and a minor in Education. I grew up in Colorado, and I’ve been seriously playing drumset for 15 years. I grew up with the Denver School of Rock, in which I had the opportunity to play at venues like the Hard Rock Cafe and Red Rocks. In high school, I played in the jazz band as well as the local community band. I spent several summers with percussionist, David Alderdice, helping with youth lessons. At Benedictine, I was the lead snare in the marching band and principal percussionist for 5 years.

Audrey Huff

Audrey comes to Harper Haus with a wide background in vocal, instrumental, and theatre performance.  She began singing and studying the flute and piano in elementary school, and was involved in every stage production during her high school career, as well as performing with many different community theatre companies.  She continued her studies at Northwest Missouri State University where she was a member of both Tower Choir and Wind Symphony.  Audrey is a member of the Kansas City Women’s Chorus, and is also in the KCWC small ensemble, Heartsong.  She has also performed in several community bands in the area.  Audrey was a 10 year member of 4-H where she learned the fine art of public speaking.

Lindsay Jones

Lindsay is a natural violinist, and holds a Masters of Music in Viola Performance from UMKC! She plays in several bands in Kansas City such as Chance the Arm and Summon the Storm. She has over 15 years of teaching experience, and is excited to teach at Harper Haus!

Davida Gonzalez

Davida has played saxophone since 2006. In high school, she participated in the Platte County High School Marching Band, and was a member of the Pride Band for two years. She continued to expand her skill set while studying Music Education at Missouri Southern State University and Pittsburg State University. Davida has experience playing Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone saxophone, and is currently playing with the Platte City Community Band, under the direction of Jim Edwards.

Cade Polsgrove

Hi! My name is Cade Polsgrove, and I am a gigging musician based in Platte City, MO. I started playing guitar in the fall of 2019, and it has been my biggest passion ever since. My favorite styles of music to play are blues, country, and acoustic rock, but I can play most all genres to an extent. As a guitar teacher, I will strive to help my students fully enjoy their instruments, and to teach them everything they want to learn to help them accomplish their goals.

Elise Benne

Elise is a pianist and vocalist with a B.S. in music from William Jewell College. She has been a pianist for 18 years and a vocalist for 15. She regularly does shows with Weston Community Theater, her favorites being Mamma Mia and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Her interests include art, makeup, and video games. She couldn’t be more excited to be teaching at Harper Haus!

Diana Loutsch

Hello! My name is Diana Loutsch, and I couldn't be more excited to be teaching at Harper Haus! I am originally from Le Mars, Iowa (the ice cream capital of the world!). I have my BA in Theology and Music (focus in voice) from Benedictine College and am currently working on my Masters. I started playing piano in 3rd grade. I have played flute since 5th grade and was section leader for three years in both high school and college. I have played saxophone since 6th grade and was involved in jazz band throughout middle, high school, and college. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, watching movies, reading, composing/arranging, and video editing.

Kaitlyn Seim

Kaitlyn is currently a junior at Platte County High School and has been involved in theatre since she was 7. She has been in 16 theatrical productions and has a love for the arts. For the past two summers, she has choreographed and taught Harper Haus children's musicals, and wants to continue passing her passion on to young, creative minds.

Sofia Ramos

Sofia is a Senior at Platte County High School. She has been involved in over 10 shows at PCHS, and you might have seen her on stage as Ursula in THE LITTLE MERMAID! She plans to become a theatre educator after high school, and has furthered her pursuit of this career by attending three Missouri Thespian State Conferences, one leadership conference, and even the student direction of a mainstage play.  In her free time, she LOVES to spend time with her two cats, bake, and go shopping.
